Can you tell me how to get, how to get to the site of a recent Toronto carjacking involving at least one knife-wielding teeeeeen?

Friendly neighbours were nowhere to be found (or at least unable to intervene) last Saturday when a female victim was forced at knifepoint to hand over her car keys to a group of robbers in Scarborough.

In what reads like a bizarrely-headlined news release at first glance, the Toronto Police Service announced late last week that officers had arrested a youth (too young to be named) in the Sesame Street area.

Police say that they initially responded to a “person with a knife call” near Pharmacy Avenue and Sesame Street (which was indeed reportedly named after the PBS childrens’ series back in the 1970s), after two male suspects in masks approached a female victim near her personal vehicle, produced a weapon and demanded her keys.

Four suspects in total are said to have driven away in the stolen car: two males and two females.

While investigating the incident, members of the TPS Hold Up Squad were able to identify one 16-year-old suspect.

Police executed a Criminal Code search warrant at the boy’s home on Thursday, Sept. 15, at which point he was taken into custody and charged with each of the following:

  • Robbery With Offensive Weapon
  • Disguise With Intent
  • Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over (two counts)
  • Fail to Comply Probation

While the victim’s stolen car has been recovered, police are still looking for three unidentified suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police, Crime Stoppers, Gordon or Maria.
